Showing yourself Gratitude

It’s World Maternal Mental Health Day 🤍

It’s also the start of Maternal Mental Health Month.
Today I encourage you to check in with yourself. How are you feeling? How does your body feel? What’s one thing you could do for yourself today?

Remember, storytelling saves lives. Tell your story, to one person or to the world. Take care of yourself. Postpartum is forever. Motherhood is forever.
We can do our part by showing compassion, checking in on our mom friends, and talking about our own struggles.

I think back to the early postpartum days when I was at war with my mind. When I couldn’t sleep so I’d lay awake and worry. Worry about every single possible thing that could happen to the little angel that so perfectly fit in my arms at the time.
That woman still lives inside me. I’m stronger today because of her. I hug her so tightly because she did good. She did the best she could, and that was always more than enough. Our past selves not only live inside of us but every now and then we can feel them. We get a glimpse of them. Don’t push yourself away. Sit with the feeling, remember, breathe and then let go.

That was once you, but you have overcome that part of yourself. Let your past self know, “I will take care of things now. You may rest. Thank you and I love you.”
Show yourself some gratitude for all you have done. For all you have been through. For all you accomplished. For the good, the bad and everything in between. You did good self.

My focus this month is: gratitude. Showing grace to myself today, my self back then, and my self in the future. May you also show yourself some gratitude today tomorrow and every day after that. You are not alone mamas.

Much love, B. 🤍
